My Black Life

If you’ve met me, chances are you’ve noticed that I am a black music therapist.  Most people don’t know what a music therapist is at all and seeing a black one is rare on most days.

As you know, I stand with all people of all backgrounds, needs and abilities, ages, races and beliefs.  I’ve been blessed to work with so many people and enhance their lives in some way through music therapy and music experiences.  I am grateful for the opportunities and I absolutely believe black lives matter.

With all that’s illuminated in the world at this time, I need your support now more than ever.  If you have it in you, please use your voice to stand against injustice- however that may be- in your own way!

Let’s not talk about politics.  It’s not my thing.

Let’s agree to make the world a better place.

A place where I and others that look like me can continue to passionately pursue the work we love without fear or anxiety…and just plain live and breathe like everyone else.

I’m here to make a difference and will continue to do so.

I’m speaking from the heart on this.  Thanks for listening.

Sincerely,

Erica Lyles, MT-BC 4F4B2470-7CEB-448B-BD1B-BC61E8052068
